Lectec Media is looking for a video editor who can turn technical, scientific, and history-heavy scripts into compelling visual stories.

This role is not primarily about flashy transitions or complicated editing techniques. The most important requirement is simple:

What appears on screen must clearly visualize what is being said.

We are not necessarily looking for the best traditional editor. We are looking for the best visualizer.

You should be able to break a script down sentence by sentence, identify the clearest visual for each idea, and build an edit that helps viewers understand the story even with the sound turned off. That may involve archival footage, maps, diagrams, graphs, animations, photographs, screen recordings, motion graphics, or relevant clips from previously published Lectec videos.

The final video should not merely accompany the narration. It should explain the narration visually.

How the Role Works

You will be responsible for producing approximately 30 short-form videos per month for YouTube Shorts, TikTok, and Instagram Reels.

This is a fully remote and largely asynchronous role. You can work at your own pace and deliver completed videos at the times that work best for you, provided the required publishing schedule and quality standards are consistently met.

Our filming team typically works five to seven days ahead of publication, so there will almost always be completed footage and a script ready for you to edit. You will have a steady production queue rather than waiting for assignments.

Responsibilities

• Edit approximately 30 short-form videos per month.
• Turn raw footage, narration, scripts, and supporting assets into polished, high-retention videos.
• Break every script down sentence by sentence and determine what the viewer should see during each line.
• Find or create visuals that make technical concepts, historical events, physical processes, locations, and objects easy to understand.
• Use archival footage, photographs, diagrams, maps, graphs, animations, motion graphics, and other supporting materials where appropriate.
• Review previously published Lectec videos and reuse relevant footage or visual assets when they improve the story.
• Ensure that every important statement is supported by a clear and accurate visual.
• Maintain strong pacing without sacrificing comprehension.
• Add text animation, sound design, music, and motion graphics where they strengthen the edit.
• Color grade footage and maintain Lectec's visual identity.
• Organize project files and deliver completed videos reliably within the production schedule.
• Respond to feedback and continuously improve visual storytelling and audience retention.

What We Are Looking For

• Exceptional visual storytelling instincts.
• The ability to understand a technical or history-heavy script and translate it into a clear visual sequence.
• Strong judgment about which visual will best explain each sentence.
• A portfolio demonstrating engaging short-form or educational content.
• Professional proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects. Both applications are required for this role.
• Experience sourcing archival footage, photographs, maps, diagrams, and other supporting materials.
• A strong understanding of pacing, opening hooks, audience retention, and short-form video conventions.
• The ability to work independently and manage a consistent monthly production schedule.
• Strong attention to detail, visual accuracy, and continuity.
• Clear communication skills and conversational English proficiency.

Our production workflow uses:

• Adobe Premiere Pro for editing
• Adobe After Effects for animation
• Notion for planning and organization
• Discord for communication
• Frame.io for revisions
• Box for file storage

Equipment Requirements

This is a fully remote position. You must provide:

• A computer capable of reliably editing and rendering short-form video
• Sufficient local storage for footage, project files, and exports
• A fast and dependable internet connection for downloading footage and uploading completed projects
• Licensed access to Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects

Nice to Have

• Experience editing educational, scientific, historical, architectural, or infrastructure content.
• Motion graphics or animation experience.
• Experience creating diagrams, maps, or visual explanations.
• Familiarity with licensing and sourcing archival media.
• Basic thumbnail design skills in Photoshop or similar software.

We Are Looking for the Best Visualizer

A technically perfect edit can still fail if the visuals do not explain the story.

The strongest candidate will be someone who can read a sentence, understand its meaning, and immediately imagine the clearest and most compelling way to show it on screen. Every shot, graphic, animation, and transition should help the viewer understand what is being said and motivate them to keep watching.

We are not looking for the best editor. We are looking for the best visualizer.
